Geranium essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves, stalks and flowers of the Geranium plant - a hairy, aromatic, perennial shrub that grows best in warm climates. The plant originated in South Africa, but now flourishes in many other countries, with the main producers of Geranium oil being Algeria, China, Egypt, France, India, Réunion and Morocco. The aroma and colour of the essential oil will vary depending on the country of origin and other factors such as age of plant and time of harvesting.

Geranium essential oil is an emotionally soothing and balancing oil. It has a close affinity with the female system and can assist in balancing hormonal problems. It has a fabulous scent that makes it ideal for natural room fragrancing and perfumery, and is also a gentle insect repellent, hence why it is often used as a window box plant.

Skin:	Geranium essential oil has a balancing and soothing effect on all skin types. Often used for balancing sebum production and for treating acne prone skin. Its regenerative properties can also aid in the healing of wounds.
Mind:	Geranium oil helps to relax, stabilise and lift the emotions. Beneficial for anxiety, nervous tension, post-natal depression, mood swings, irritability and feelings of frustration and anger.
Body:	Geranium essential oil has a balancing effect on the hormones and is popular for use with menstrual problems, prior to conception and during the menopause. It is commonly used in lymphatic drainage massage to detoxify the lymphatic system and can help to combat cellulite and oedema. It is also believe to help relieve spasm, pain and inflammation in the musculoskeletal system.
Blends well with:	Bergamot and other citruses, Neroli, Rose, Black Pepper and Lemongrass essential oils.

Aromatherapy bath for mood swings and post natal depression

15ml Bath Oil, 5 drops Geranium, 5 Bergamot, 2 Neroli and 2 Rose. Add to bath once water has run and swirl around to disperse.

Massage oil for dry/combination skin and hormonal imbalance

25ml Sweet Almond Oil, 5ml St John's Wort Oil, 5 drops Lavender essential oil, 4 Geranium, 3 Clary Sage and 2 Rose.

Aromatherapy gel for eczema

50ml Aloe Vera & Seaweed Gel, 2ml Red Carrot Oil, 5ml Avocado Oil, 8 drops Geranium essential oil, 4 Yarrow and 2 German Chamomile. Mix well and apply regularly.
