Pine is a tall evergreen tree with distinctive fissured, reddish-brown bark, needle-type leaves and pine cones. It is also known as Scotch pine and. Native to Europe and Asia, this member of the Pinaceae family is now found in northern Europe, North Eastern Russia, Scandinavia and the eastern United States. The tree's needles, twigs and cones are steam-distilled to produce pine essential oil, with the more superior oil being produced from trees grown in more northerly climates.
Pine is a cleansing, restorative, reviving and strengthening essential oil that can be beneficial for the respiratory system and the urinary tract. It is also useful for muscular aches and pains and for relieving fatigue.
