Mango Seed Butter

Our Mango Butter is cold pressed and rendered from the de-shelled seed kernel of the Mango (Mangifera indica) tree. It is a lightweight, non-comedogenic, easily absorbed butter that is often used in beauty products as a substitute for Shea or Cocoa Butter. 

Mango Butter is packed with high levels of skin nurturing essential fatty acids, minerals, phytosterols and antioxidant vitamins A, C and E. It is excellent for softening and moisturising the skin, protecting against environmental damage, preventing moisture loss, and improving skin elasticity and firmness. It is beneficial for all skin types, but is especially nourishing, soothing and healing for rough, dry, irritated, chapped or cracked skin including skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis. This is due to the plant compounds, triterpenes, which have anti-inflammatory, antiviral and antimicrobial effects.

Mango Butter is popular for use in skincare lotions, body butters, balms, lip balms, soaps and shaving preparations. It is also often used in suncare products as it is thought to protect against UV damage. 

In addition to skincare, Mango Butter can also be used for haircare, to condition and promote smoother, stronger, shinier hair.

This luxurious butter has a neutral scent. It tends to be softer and easy to work with than Cocoa Butter at room temperature, and melts easily when combining with other oils and ingredients. It can also be used directly on the skin. Simply break off a bit of butter and rub into the skin. It should melt and massage in nicely.

Although it’s not as widely used, Mango’s nutrient rich formulation and therapeutic properties far exceed the moisturising and skin-boosting properties of the better-know butters – making it an excellent choice for your skin and hair care blends.

Note: Do not use with severe acne or if allergic to Mangoes.
