Aromatherapy mood perfumes for fragranced jewellery
We’re loving the latest trend for aromatherapy jewellery, so this month we thought we’d take a little look at how you can create your own essential oil perfumes to use with your jewellery to boost your mood!
We know that essential oils have therapeutic effects which work to trigger healing in the body, mind or soul; so, what better way to incorporate them into our lives than via a natural aromatherapy perfume that we can wear on a beautiful piece of jewellery? This way, we smell beautiful all the time, whilst enhancing our mood and improving our wellbeing! If you’re liking the sound of this idea, read on for more information on how to create your own bespoke mood perfumes for fragranced jewellery.
Using aromatherapy jewellery: safety first
The first point I’d like to make is that it’s very important to get the right piece of jewellery to wear. When using essential oils, we do not want them to be used ‘neat’ and directly rubbing against our skin – and much of the jewellery on the market has been designed in a way that does this. So, choose your piece of jewellery carefully – we like Vanacci’s Nightfall Elite Pendant, which is safe to use because it has a hypoallergenic stainless steel surround that prevents the essential oils from coming into contact with your skin. The Elite Pendant has a unique Lockstone with composite double fragrance lock technology to ensure your essential oil perfume lasts up to 7 times longer. It has a durable leather cord and can be custom engraved with your star sign and a personal message such as your name or date of birth. Vanacci has a wide range of contemporary fragranced jewellery designs, and is well worth a browse.
How to make your aromatherapy perfume
Once you’ve bought your beautiful jewellery, you can start creating your personalised perfumes! There are two ways to create your aromatherapy perfume:
Perfume Spritz – use 100ml of Hydrolat (e.g. Orange Flower or Rose) mixed in a spray bottle with 30-40 drops total of up to three different essential oils. This method is best if any of the infused jewellery parts are likely to touch your skin, as the essential oils are diluted. We would however still recommend patch-testing the oils first just to be sure.
Direct Application – you can apply undiluted essential oils to the part of the jewellery that holds the perfume – this is only for use with pieces where the oils cannot come into contact with the skin.
Once applied, allow the perfume to infuse for 5-10 minutes before wearing it! You can also use these methods to top-up your fragranced jewellery as and when required. The Elite Pendant comes with 3 different lockstones so you can change your fragrances to suit your mood.
Safety Note: Avoid using citrus oils such as Bergamot, Lemon, Lime and Orange before exposure to sunlight, as they can be photosensitive.
