Treat your skin with our Face Mask Kits
Do you fancy a spa-style face mask in the comfort of your own home, and at a fraction of normal salon prices? If the answer is yes and you also like making your own tailor-made beauty products, then why not grab one of fabulous Face Mask Kits.
We offer a selection of kits which can be selected according to your skincare requirements.
Sandwich Face Mask Kit
Our Sandwich Face Mask Kit is one of our best sellers and takes its name from a Chinese skincare ritual whereby you create a layered, sandwich effect with our ultra-hydrating Aloe Vera & Seaweed Gel and Compressed Face Mask Sheets soaked in a hydrolat of your choice.
This kit contains everything you need to make a nourishing, ultra-hydrating, skin plumping mask.
Nutrient rich Aloe Vera & Seaweed Gel with Honeysuckle Extract is ideal for balancing the skin's natural moisture levels and restoring texture, elasticity, and tone to the skin.
Our 100% cotton Face Mask Sheets are compressed into a handy, tablet form. All you need to do is thoroughly soak the face mask tablet in hydrolat or any other liquid that you want to nourish your skin with. You can even use basic kitchen ingredients such as honey and milk!
Hydrolats are the 100% pure and natural waters that are collected when plant material is steam-distilled to produce essential oils. They are popular for skincare as they have similar therapeutic properties to essential oils but can be used direct on the skin. They are ideal for hydrating, soothing, calming and toning the skin.
If you're not sure which hydrolat to choose for your kit you could follow our general advice below:
- Normal/Combination: Orange Flower
- Oily/Acne: Witch Hazel
- Mature: Lavender, Chamomile or Rose
- Dry: Rose or Lavender
- Sensitive: Chamomile, Lavender or Rose
To create your Sandwich Mask, first cleanse your skin, then apply a thin layer of Aloe Vera Gel to the face and neck. Pop a Compressed Face Mask Sheet into a small bowl of hydrolat and wait for it to expand. Carefully unfold the mask and place over the face. You can also soak a couple of cotton pads in hydrolat and place these over the eyes. Relax for 10-15 minutes then remove the cotton pads and mask – massaging in any remaining gel.
In tests, when using a skin hydration monitor, the Sandwich mask increased our models skin moisture levels from 32% to 99%.
Clay Face Mask Kits
Mineral-rich clay is an amazing skincare ingredient that has been used since ancient times. Clay face masks are excellent for drawing out impurities, absorbing excess oil and fighting blemishes. They are ideal for use on oily, blemished or acne prone skin. but can be equally beneficial for all other skin types if you select the right clay. As well as cleansing and clearing out the pores they can also help keep your complexion looking fresh, bright, and shine-free, restore your skin’s natural balance and give a smoother, more toned complexion.
We offer two different types of clay mask kits:
French Green Clay (also known as Bentonite / Montmorillonite) is highly absorbent and excellent for drawing out impurities, reducing oiliness and refining the pores. It is particularly beneficial for oily, blemished and acne prone skin.
White Kaolin Clay (Kaolinite) has a milder, gentler action that is suitable for all skin types including dry or sensitive skin.
Our Clay Face Mask Kits come with a 500ml jar of our Aloe Vera & Seaweed Gel, your chosen clay and your chosen hydrolat (see info above for selecting the right hydrolat for your skin type).
You can then get creative – mixing your clay with gel or hydrolat (or both). You can also use different quantities of gel or hydrolat to create full-setting face masks, or softer non-setting masks. You will find full details on how to mix the ingredients on each product page. Always remember to use a moisturiser after a clay mask as they can have a drying effect on the skin.
How often should you use a face mask?
Many people view a face mask as an occasional treat and reserve them for special occasions! To get the most out of your masks however you should use them regularly. The general rule is to use a face mask 1 to 3 times per week, depending on your skin type and the type of mask you’re using. A gentle, hydrating mask such as our Sandwich Mask for example could be used 3 times per week (or even daily if your skin really needs it). Clay masks are best used once or twice a week as over-use could cause dryness or irritation.
Multi-masking
Obviously, you don’t have to stick to one type of mask. Depending on what your skin needs you could alternate between hydrating treatments and deeper cleansing masks. Multi-masking takes this idea one step further, whereby you can apply different types of masks to different areas of your face at the same time – resulting in a truly customised treatment. For instance, you might want to apply clay to your oilier T-zone and a hydrating mask to drier areas.
Special Edition Face Mask Kits
We currently have two special edition face mask kits on offer which will enable you to try out a variety of masks. Mix up a cleansing clay mask, re-hydrate with a sandwich mask, or for a really easy solution soak a face mask sheet in hydrolat and place it over the face for 5 to 10 minutes to nourish and refresh the skin.
