Our Bump & Bits Massage oil has been especially blended for use during pregnancy to moisturise, soothe and support the skin’s natural elasticity. It can help to relieve tight, dry and irritated skin and may help to reduce the appearance of stretch marks. It can also be used for perineum / perineal massage to improve the skin’s suppleness and reduce the risk of a perineal tear or the need for an episiotomy during labour.
Our Bump & Bits Massage Oil contains a light, yet highly nourishing blend of Coconut, Jojoba and Camellia oils. It is 100% pure and natural with no added colour, fragrance, preservatives or other synthetic additives.
Coconut oil is a fantastic emollient, rich in fatty acids, amino acids and vitamins that help to moisturise, protect and repair your skin’s natural barrier.
Jojoba is highly nourishing and rich in proteins, minerals and vitamins, including antioxidant Vitamin E. It is deeply penetrating and has an anti-inflammatory action which can be helpful for soothing dry, itchy, inflamed skin.
Camellia is rich in skin nurturing plant collagen, vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids. It also has a unique active ingredient, squalene, which is found in our skin’s own natural oil, and helps keep the skin hydrated, soft and supple. Victoria Beckham claimed that Camellia oil was her go-to ‘beauty secret’ during all of her pregnancies.
How to use our Bump & Bits Massage Oil:
Bump & Bits Massage Oil can be used throughout pregnancy to moisturise and support your stretching skin. It can also be used for massage to aid relaxation and help relieve pregnancy discomforts such as lower back pain, oedema, swelling and stress. The oil can be used on its own or it can be blended with our Babyopathy essential oils where appropriate (see individual essential oils for more information).
The oil is suitable for all over body use (even for Indian head / scalp massage) but is especially good for massaging daily into problem areas such as the tummy, breasts, thighs and bottom. We recommend applying the oil after a bath or shower when the skin is warm and slightly damp which aids absorption and seals in moisture. Massage in with gentle, circular movements and always work in a clockwise direction when massaging the tummy.
The oil can also be used for perineal massage from 34 weeks onwards. Please click here for more information and guidelines on antenatal perineal massage as provided by Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust.
Safety note: Do not blend this oil with any of the Babyopathy essential oils during your first trimester unless you have used essential oils prior to getting pregnant.
