Vitamin E (Tocopherol 70%) (100ml)

Our cosmetic Vitamin E (Tocopherol 70%) comprises of mixed tocopherols (alpha, beta, delta, gamma) derived from refined sunflower oil and infused in a Sunflower oil base.

Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin found in certain plant oils and leafy green vegetables. Often called the ‘skin vitamin’, it has powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and skin healing properties that can be helpful for a wide range of skin care issues.

Vitamin E helps protect against free radical damage and signs of ageing caused by environmental stressors such as sun exposure and pollution. It strengthens the skin’s barrier function and improves moisture retention and is often used in anti-ageing formulations to keep the skin looking soft, smooth and supple.

Its anti-inflammatory action is helpful for soothing dry, itchy, chapped, blemished or irritated skin and it can provide healing support for burns (including sunburn) scars and stretch marks. It can also help to improve the condition of the hair and scalp.

In addition to its skincare benefits, Vitamin E is an important ingredient for preserving aromatherapy oils and oil-based skincare products. Although it’s not an actual preservative the oil’s natural antioxidant effect helps to slow oxidisation and prolong the shelf life and quality of your blends.

Usage:

Vitamin E (Tocopherol) should always be diluted in other products and never applied neat.

0.2% - 0.5% is typically required to prolong the shelf life of oil-based aromatherapy blends.

1% - 2% is ideal if you’re looking to increase your blend’s ‘skin improvement’ properties.

Using a higher quantity such as 10% may cause a reddening (exfoliating) effect, which might be desirable for some skincare issues, but may feel quite heavy and sticky on the skin.

Note:

Vitamin E is heat sensitive. If making creams and lotions it should be added below 40°C.
