Lemon essential oil is cold pressed from the outer part of the fresh fruit peel. It takes approximately 3000 lemons to produce 1 kg of Lemon oil. Although the Lemon tree originated in Asia, the majority of Lemon essential oil is now produced in Sicily.
Lemon oil has long been respected for its ability to "lift the spirits”, and is often recommended for stress-related fatigue. Lemon is a photosensitive oil which means exposure to sunlight should be avoided when using it, particularly in the first few hours after use. Avoid in massage blends if the skin is over sensitive. Use a maximum of 3 drops in aromatherapy baths. Lemon can have a temporary bleaching effect on some skins (spot test if in doubt).
